[News] Layoffs Hit FileMaker Development Team

  • News

Oh my, doom and gloom! I don't know how I missed this item (actually, working non-stop on converting FileMaker applications over to Servoy may have something to do with it...) but here it is anyway 10 days late. Sounds to me like FileMaker Inc. isn't entirely satisfied with the release of version 7.

Let me guess, Chung Le and team wanted to continue to develop their own database engine and the new people in power want to ditch the database engine in favor of live connections to SQL databases via JDBC. Or is it the other way around?

Ah well, if it is the latter case—FileMaker developers the world over can look forward to rewriting all of their FM7 applications to FM8 when version 8 comes out. Not to worry, it will be at least five years from now.

Someone over at FileMaker Inc needs to read my earlier commentary and get their act together. Maybe the dudes that did were the ones that got fired. Or should I tentatively ask again...is it the other way around?
